Domes

Domes are made of PMMA (polymethyl metacrylate, acrylate glass). The PMMA thickness is 2 - 3 mm. The dome is made by thermal moulding. Individual layers are screwed together into one compact block. Also there is double side sticking waterproof adhesive tape between individual layer. Each dome has a sealing, which is in contact with the collar. All domes are delivered with necessary screws and fixtures.

Thermal insulation properties of domes:

  • single layer dome       U=5.6 W/m²K
  • double layer dome      U=2.4 W/m²K
  • triple layer dome        U=1.8 W/m²K
  • four layer dome         U=1.3 W/m2THERMOPUL energy efficient domes

Color schemes:

We manucture our domes in two various color schemes

  • Transparent (clear) - light transmission 92%
  • Opal (milk) glass with practically similar light transmittance (81%) but not transparent
If you need different colors or design do not hesitate to specify your needs and we shall make a dome in a color of your choice.
Alternative materials
  • PC (polycarbonate) in comparison to glass polycarbonate is 300 x more resistant. Demonstration - see Fig. 2 Colour - clear (transparent)
  • Heatstop - when using this material, the cupola gets excellent heat reflecting properties. This material reflects up to 68% of the sun rays, which eliminates interior overheating. Colour - pearly white (non transparent but translucent)
  • Solar control IR this material combines advantages of PC (polycarbonate) and Heatstop. It is very resistant against mechanical damage and reflects up to 65% of sun rays. Colour - bronze (smokey), translucent.
Flammability classes (European classes):
  • Dome made of PMMA: C3
  • PVC frame: C1
  • Glass fiber collar: B
